Soccer Conditioning

by Tinoue

Any boy or girl in the 9th-12th grade interested in playing soccer? Now's a great time to come out every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 for conditioning. Conditioning instruction will be given by the girls soccer coaches, Jason Nakayama and Linus Tavares. It is highly recommended to those who are not playing a fall sport.

Tuesdays we focus on cardio. We do sprinting drills, back peddles, jump rope, ball handling, and agility. Thursdays we focus on strength training. We work on building muscle and becoming strong in the core, legs, and arms. We do push-ups, sit-ups, 6 inches, squats, different jumping drills, balance and coordination drills, weight lifting, and a lot of stretching.

During September, there's practice twice a week. In October, we will start practicing 3 times a week. The conditioning practices are optional, but I strongly advise you to attend them. Once we hit November 7th... IT'S ON!!! Season begins and practice will be held 5 times a week after school. Conditioning is co-ed. Once the regular season starts, the boys will have to find their own coach. But come out and join anyway. It's fun and a great way to help get in shape!!!
