2010 Cardinal-Warrior Basketball Classic

Every year the St. Joseph basketball boys join up with the Waiakea basketball boys and have an annual basketball tournament called the Cardinal Warrior Classic. It usually happens during the first weekend in December. It's a 4 day long tournament. It takes place at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium and at the Waiakea High School gymnasium. This year it's going to be held on December 1-4.
There are many teams that compete in this tournament. However, you need to be invited you can't just register. Schools are invited from the Big Island, Oahu, and Maui. The teams who are competing at Waiakea Gym in the blue bracket are Kaiser, Honoka'a, Waiakea, Kohala, Pahoa, Kalani, Hilo, and Lahainaluna. Teams who are competing at the Civic in the red bracket are Kea'au, Kealakehe, Kamehameha, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, St. Joseph, St. Francis, Kalaheo, and Konawaena.
This is one of the biggest events of the school year not only for St. Joseph and Waiakea but all schools who participate in it. Every team gets balled up and conditioned for this tournament because they know it's a big deal. Last year we had around 3,000 people in the Civic for the entire 4 day tournament. We know for Hilo that's a huge gathering. So get geared up, bring a sign, and we'll see you down the Civic aka CARDINAL NATION on Wednesday night at 6:00 when St. Joseph will take on St. Francis!!!
